The Salem Sisters: Sarah Sanderson Free Crochet Pattern

This is the one of the three instalments in my Salem Sisters series! The pattern for Sarah Sanderson is contained in this post. The patterns for Winifred and Mary can be found in separate posts.

The Details

The body, head, arms, and sleeves are worked in continuous rounds. The hair cap, skirt, and corset are worked in flat rows.

The body is worked from the bottom up, starting with the feet. The head is worked top down. The head and arms are worked separately and attached to the body. Chenille stems (pipecleaners/wire) are used to stabilize the neck and head and to make the arms posable.

The finished measurements are approximately 23cm/9″ from top to bottom.

Let’s get started! (Or Pin/Shop for later!)

Materials:

These are the materials for Sarah only. The patterns and materials for Winifred and Mary will be in separate posts for each. (Affiliate links coming at you!)

  • 2.25mm hook (I use THESE hooks!);
  • Hobbii Rainbow 8/4 Cotton in the following colours:
    • Color 03 (skin)
    • Color 09 (black)
    • Color 82 (yellow)
    • Color 36 (dusty purple)
    • Color 86 (red)
    • Color 04 (beige)
    • Color 07 (brown)
  • 3 Chenille stems/pipecleaners;
  • Red embroidery thread;
  • Black crochet thread;
  • Stitch markers;
  • Stuffing;
  • Tapestry needle.

Rainbow 8/4 Cotton is a Super Fine (category 1) weight yarn, so it is quite small. You can use any weight yarn you wish, simply size up to a corresponding hook size. Rainbow 8/6 or 8/8 would be a great as well; your doll will just be bigger!
