Hi all! I’m back today with a new crochet pattern for this sweet fawn amigurumi. Isn’t she lovely? I’m still in a bit of a cottage-core kick (check out my recent mushroom pattern here!) and I think this little fawn is very whimsical and fits the aesthetic perfectly! I used velvet yarn to make her extra soft and squishable.
The Details
As usual, this pattern is made in the same style as my Ragdoll patterns; separate pieces worked in flat rows and then joined together to give them that unique 2-D look.
There is some colour work involved so be sure to read the “Reading this Pattern” section!
The finished measurements are approximately 23cm/9″ from top to bottom.
Let’s get started! (Or Pin/Shop for later!)

Reading this Pattern and Colour Changes:
Everything is worked in single crochet stitches, unless otherwise specified. In order to indicate the colour-changes, I have omitted the usual “sc” in front of the stitch counts in lines with colour-changes and I’ve used the associated colour letter instead. Here are some examples:
- “Binc” means to work a sc increase in brown yarn.
- “C3, B1” means to work the next 3 sc in cream yarn and the next 1 sc in brown yarn.
Due to the colour changes, you will sometimes have at least two balls of yarn attached (one cream and one brown). Carry the yarn across the back of the panel when changing colours. Do not crochet the unused yarn inside the stitch; always carry it on the back.
When changing colours, you will insert your hook into the stitch for the last stitch of Colour X and pull up a loop. Then, with Colour Y, yarn over and complete the stitch by pulling through both loops with Colour Y. Drop your working yarn in Colour X and continue with Colour Y. You will pick your Colour X working yarn back up again on the way back in the next row when you need it.
Make sure to always drop your yarn on the WRONG side of your panel! This will be different depending on whether you’re working an odd or even row. For the front panel, whenever you are working an odd-numbered row (row 1, 3, 5, etc), the right side of your panel will be facing you. When you’re working an even-numbered row, the wrong side will be facing you.

Repeat all of the above for the back panel (i.e. starting with the hind leg, the foreleg, joining the legs to create the body and then working the head). The back panel can be worked exactly the same as the front panel with all of the colour changes, or it can be worked entirely in brown, whichever you prefer.

Move on to assembly below!
Assembly:
Step 1: Face
Using black crochet thread, stitch one sleepy eye onto the front panel as follows: spanning 3 sts in width and 2 rows in height on the left-hand side of the cream face area. Add eyelashes. Take a look at this video tutorial to see how I stitch eyes onto amigurumi.
Step 2: Joining Panels
These are all the pieces you will now have at this step:
Cut a length of brown yarn and set aside for later. Place the two panels together, matching up all sides and colours.
Make sure the front is facing you as you crochet around the outside.
Starting in a stitch on the left below the ear, begin attaching the panels together by inserting your hook through both panels and single crocheting around the outside edge of the panels starting in brown.
Crochet down the head and across the back, stopping before you get to the end of the back. Using a tapestry needle and the length of yarn you set aside earlier, stitch the tail in place between the panels. Tie a knot in the yarn tails and hide inside the body panels.
Continue crocheting around. When crocheting across the tail, crochet in the stitches of the front panel only (since this section is already sewn shut). Continue crocheting both panels together as usual once past the tail.
Crochet down the leg, switching colours as necessary. You do not need to cut your yarn each time; pull the working yarn in between the panels before you drop it and finish the stitch with the next colour. Then you can simply pick it up again from between the panels when you need it.
Work the following into each of the corners of the hooves:
Corners: [Sc, ch 1, sc] all into the same st.
Stuff the legs as you crochet around each leg. Continue crocheting around, switching colours as necessary. Stop at the base of the head. Stuff the body firmly.
Continue crocheting around. Work the following into the point of the nose to accentuate the nose:
Nose: [Sc, ch 1, sc] all into the same st.
Start stuffing the head. Continue to top up stuffing as you crochet around. When satisfied with the stuffing, close with a slst to first st. Tie off. With your tapestry needle, poke the yarn tail back inside the piece.
Step 3: Finish
Stitch the ear in place behind the head and to the right of the existing ear. Stitch the background legs behind each of the foreleg and hindleg.
Using black crochet thread, stitch a nose on in a triangle shape.
You’re done! You can even add a flower crown to make her even more whimsical! Happy crocheting!
