Mini Pumpkin Amigurumi Free Crochet Pattern

Hello friends! Last week I posted a reel of this little mini-pumpkin that I made. I had lots of requests for the pattern, so I figured I’d pop it up here on the blog! It’s super simple and quick. These would be so fun strung up as a garland! Feel free to add a face or keep it simple.

The Details

This mini pumpky is worked in continuous rounds from the bottom up. The stem is worked into a starting chain.

The finished measurements are approximately 4.5cm across and 3cm tall (1.5″x1″).

Let’s get started!

Materials:

  • 3.25mm hook (I use THESE hooks!);
  • Hobbii Friends 8/8 Cotton in Color 16 (whiskey) and 123 (charcoal) (very small amounts!)
  • Black crochet thread or fine weight yarn for mouth;
  • 8mm safety eyes;
  • Stuffing;
  • Tapestry needle.

Terms and Stitches:

Ch – Chain

Slst – Slip stitch

MR – Magic Ring

Sc – Single Crochet

Inc – Increase. Work a regular sc increase

Dec – Decrease. When decreasing in the round, always use the invisible decrease method.

Mini Pumpkin

Pattern

Mini Pumpkin:

Rnd 1: In orange, work 6 sc into a MR (6 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc in each st around (12 sts)

Rnd 3: *Sc 1, inc in next st, repeat from * five more times (18 sts)

Rnd 4: *Sc 2, inc in next st, repeat from * five more times (24 sts)

Rnds 5-12: Sc in each st around.

Insert 8mm safety eyes between rows 6 and 7 with about 6 sts between them.

Rnd 13: *Sc 2, dec, repeat from * five more times (18 sts)

Rnd 14: *Sc 1, dec, repeat from * five more times (12 sts)

Stuff firmly.

Rnd 15: Dec around (6 sts)

Tie off, leaving a tail for closing. Using a tapestry needle, weave tail through each stitch, down through centre of the head and out a stitch in the side. Pull to close. Weave ends.

Using a length of orange yarn, create 6 sections by weaving the yarn up through the centre of the head, around the outside of the head, then up through the centre again and pulling to tighten (you will see from the photos below that I actually made 7 sections but I think it was one too many so I recommend sticking with 6!). To do this, start by making an ‘X’ shape with the sections (i.e. on either side of each eye) and then one directly between the eyes. Tie a knot to secure and weave ends. Stitch on a mouth.

Stem (make 1):

Row 1: In black or brown, ch 5, starting in 2nd ch from hook, slst in each ch (4 sts)

Tie off, leaving a tail for sewing. Stitch to centre of pumpkin. Weave ends.
