I couldn’t let October pass by without releasing at least one frightful little pattern! This year I made perhaps the most terrifying ghost you have ever seen! 😉
The Details
As usual, this pattern is made in the same style as all my patterns; separate pieces worked in flat rows and then joined together to give them that unique 2-D look. This amigurumi has just 2 separate pieces.
Let’s get started! (Or Pin/Shop for later!)

Tail:
The panels are worked from the bottom up. Everything except the cheeks is worked in the white velvet yarn using a 3.5mm hook.
Row 1: Ch 2, sc in first ch (1 st), ch 1, turn
Row 2: Inc (2 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 3: Inc, sc 1 (3 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 4: Sc 2, inc (4 sts), ch 1, turn

Tie off. Put aside for later.

Row 2: Inc, sc 2, inc twice (8 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 3: Inc twice, sc 4, inc twice (12 sts), ch 1, turn
In the next row we will join the tail to the body by crocheting across both pieces. Position the tail panel so that it is on the left side of the body panel and so that the yarn tail from where you tied off is on the right.
Row 4: Inc, sc 10, inc in last st of the body panel, continue across tail by inc in the first st, sc 3 (19 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 5: Sc 18, inc (20 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 6: Inc, sc 19 (21 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 7: Dec, sc 19 (20 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 8: Inc, sc 17, dec (20 sts).
Tie off. Turn the piece so that the tail is on the right. Insert your hook into the 6th st from the right and rejoin your yarn. Continue as follows:
Row 9: Sc 15 (15 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 10: Inc twice, sc 11, dec (16 sts), ch 1, turn

Row 14: Dec twice, sc 15, inc (19 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 15: Sc 17, dec (18 sts), ch 1, turn
In the next row you will be crocheting only part way across the row before chaining and turning.
Row 16: Sc 16, leave remaining sts unworked (16 sts), ch 1, turn
Rows 17-19: Sc 16 (16 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 20: Dec, sc 14 (15 sts), ch 1, turn

Row 24: Dec, sc 7, dec (9 sts), ch 1, turn
Row 25: Dec twice, sc 1, dec twice (5 sts)
Tie off. Repeat all of the above for the back panel.
Cheeks:
Using 3.25mm hook and plum yarn. Make two:
Rnd 1: MR 8 sc (8 sts), slst to beginning st.
Tie off.
Move on to final assembly below!
Assembly:
Step 1: Face
Insert the eyes about 3-4 rows above the top of the arms and about 8 stitches apart. Do not fasten them yet!
Next, position the cheeks so that the eyes are overlapping them slightly. Stitch in place and then fasten the eyes.
Finally, using black crochet thread, stitch on a mouth.
Step 2: Body
Here are the pieces you should now have at this step.
Make sure the front is facing you as you crochet around the outside.
Starting on the left side, at the top, begin attaching the panels together by single crocheting around the outside of the panels.
(Sc, ch 2, sc) into the stitch at the tip of the tail.
Start stuffing the tail now and continue topping up stuffing after every four to five stitches.
Continue crocheting up the other side until you reach the top of the head. Finish stuffing.
When you are satisfied with the stuffing, crochet across the top of the head and close with a slst to first st. Tie off. With your tapestry needle, poke the yarn tail back inside the piece.

The easiest way is to use bigger yarn and a bigger hook!
